The T65 is a Taiwanese assault rifle developed and produced by the Combined Logistics Command of the Republic of China Armed Forces at the 205th Arsenal, chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO. Its design drew on the AR-18 short stroke gas system while borrowing heavily from AR-15 pattern rifles, and it uses a piston operated mechanism rather than direct gas impingement. It became the standard rifle of the Taiwanese Army and Marine Corps from 1976 until it was replaced on the front line by the more advanced T91 in the early 2000s. It remains in use with Taiwan reserve forces, training centers and security agencies.
