Type 100 submachine gun

The Type 100 submachine gun was a Japanese submachine gun designed by Kijiro Nambu and manufactured at the Nagoya Arsenal, the only submachine gun produced by Japan in significant quantity during the Second World War. Chambered for the 8x22mm Nambu cartridge, it was designed in 1939 and entered service in 1942, with roughly 8,500 to 10,000 total units built between 1942 and 1945 across an early Type 100/40 model and a later, simplified Type 100/44 model. It was issued to both the Imperial Japanese Army and the Imperial Japanese Navy.
