The AVS-36 is a Soviet automatic rifle that saw service in the early years of World War II. Formally the Avtomaticheskaya vintovka Simonova obraztsa 1936 goda, or automatic rifle of the Simonov model of 1936, it was among the first selective-fire infantry rifles, capable of both semi-automatic and fully automatic fire, to be formally adopted for military service.
