The Type 88, commonly known as the Hanyang 88 or Hanyang Zao, meaning Made in Hanyang, is a Chinese bolt-action rifle based on the German Gewehr 88 and chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser. It was adopted by the Qing dynasty toward the end of the nineteenth century and went on to be used by numerous Chinese factions and formations, including forces of the Republic of China, through the Chinese Civil War.
