The Henry rifle is a lever-action, tubular-magazine rifle designed by Benjamin Tyler Henry and introduced in 1860 by the New Haven Arms Company. It fired a .44 caliber rimfire cartridge from a fifteen-round magazine, an unusually high rate of fire for its era, and Confederate colonel John Mosby is said to have called it the rifle that could be loaded on Sunday and fired all week. About 14,000 were produced, and the design became the basis for the later Winchester rifles of the American West.
