The PPD is a Soviet submachine gun originally designed in 1934 by Vasily Degtyaryov and chambered for the 7.62x25mm Tokarev cartridge. It had a conventional wooden stock, fired from an open bolt, and was capable of selective fire. Roughly 90,000 were produced between 1934 and 1944, and it saw Soviet service from 1935 to 1945 before being replaced by the PPSh-41.
