PPS Submachine Gun

The PPS, most widely produced as the PPS-43, is a family of Soviet submachine guns chambered in 7.62x25mm Tokarev, designed by Alexei Sudayev with I. K. Bezruchko-Vysotsky as a low-cost personal defense weapon for reconnaissance troops, vehicle crews and support personnel. Built mainly from stamped sheet steel to simplify manufacture, it matched the accuracy of the earlier PPSh-41 while firing at a slower, more controllable rate and costing less to produce, and it saw heavy Red Army use during the Second World War. After the war it was supplied to Warsaw Pact states and allied forces across Africa and Asia.
