QBZ-95

The QBZ-95, also called the Type 95 automatic rifle, is a bullpup assault rifle designed by Duo Yingxian between 1989 and 1991 and manufactured by Norinco. Initial production began in 1995 and the weapon was first publicly displayed on July 1, 1997, becoming China's standard service rifle for the People's Liberation Army and People's Armed Police, replacing the Type 81 assault rifle. It is chambered in the Chinese 5.8 by 42 millimeter DBP87 cartridge, uses a short stroke gas operated rotating bolt system, and is built largely from polymer. It weighs 3.4 kilograms, fires at about 650 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 930 meters per second, and an improved variant, the QBZ-95-1, was introduced around 2010 with better ergonomics and reliability.
