The T-80 is a main battle tank designed and manufactured in the Soviet Union and later in Russia. It is based on the T-64, incorporating features from the later T-72, while replacing that tank's diesel engine with a gas turbine. When it entered service in 1976, the T-80 was the first production tank powered solely by a turbine engine.
